the TRUTH about HEALTH

Next to life itself, your health is the most important thing to safeguard.

Finding Health in a Confusing World

Everywhere we turn, it seems like someone is shouting a new health message at us. One week, a food is labeled “super,” the next week it’s said to be harmful. One outlet says eat this, another says avoid it at all costs. One day we’re told coffee is bad for us, the next day it’s practically a miracle drug.

Government agencies change their recommendations year to year, mainstream media thrives on sensational headlines, and pharmaceutical ads flood our screens promising quick fixes.

For most Americans who want to live long, healthy lives, the endless chatter can feel overwhelming. But truth, as Scripture reminds us, is not confusing. Our Creator is a God of order and peace, not of chaos and confusion.  (See 1 Corinthians 14:33).

At From Truth to Freedom, we believe in cutting through the noise, seeking truth, and making choices that honor God’s design for our bodies. Scripture reminds us in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. Health is a gift from our Creator. We are called to care for our bodies, as stewards; not out of fear, but out of gratitude and reverence for the One who made us.

So how do we cut through the confusion, embrace truth, and pursue freedom in our health?

The Foundation: Simple, Time-Tested Wisdom

Before chasing after the latest trends or miracle pills, it’s worth returning to what has been proven for generations. Our ancestors lived by principles that align with biblical wisdom:

  • Eat real food. Focus on what God made, not what man manufactured. Fresh fruits, vegetables, clean proteins, and whole grains should form the foundation of our diet.

  • Move your body. You don’t need a gym membership to stay active. Daily walking, gardening, or doing work with your hands keeps the body strong.

  • Rest. God Himself modeled rest by giving us the Sabbath. Sleep and downtime are essential for health.

  • Community.  Scripture emphasizes fellowship and family. Isolation weakens both body and soul. Surround yourself with people who uplift and encourage you.

These aren’t new fads. They’re timeless truths.

Facing and dealing with a broken healthcare system

Making the best of a less than perfect system

We also need to be honest: America’s healthcare system is broken. It’s costly, confusing, and often controlled more by profit than by compassion. That doesn’t mean we ignore it. It means we engage with wisdom and prudence.

  • Know your rights. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, get second opinions, or decline unnecessary procedures. You are your own best advocate.

  • Prevent what you can. A healthy lifestyle reduces dependence on a system that often treats symptoms instead of causes.

  • Use the system, don’t be used by it. Emergency care and modern medicine can save lives, but they are not substitutes for everyday discipline and stewardship.

health as a form of freedom

True freedom begins with truth. When we pursue health truthfully, we also gain freedom: freedom from dependency, from chronic disease, and from fear. This doesn’t mean life will be without struggle, but it does mean we can face it with strength, resilience, and faith.

God gave us bodies designed to heal, to grow, and to endure. When we align our habits with His design, we honor Him and find freedom.

Encouragement for the Journey

If you’ve struggled with health in the past, you’re not alone. Many of us have faced seasons of neglect, bad choices, or confusing advice. The good news is, today can be the day you turn a corner. Start small. Replace one processed food with something fresh. Take a daily walk. Read Scripture before bed instead of scrolling through a phone.

Progress and discipline is what God calls us to.

Concluding thoughts:

In a culture clouded with conflicting voices, let’s return to the timeless truth that our health is not merely physical, it is mental and spiritual, emotional and relational. As we care for these temples God gave us, we walk not only toward health, but toward the freedom He desires for His people.
